We just call it Lost Vegas. Corny, yeah, but it fits.

People come here from all over the world to dip their toes in the American Dream. Showgirls, circuses, strippers, and casinos all vy for the ever-flowing cash of the gullible masses. Anything you want is within your reach. Play a good hand of cards, get free breakfast. Lose a couple thousand, your room's for free.

People come here for vacation or to get a leg up on life. They think, "Just a couple of days, just a couple of weeks," but they wind up here for life. Countless people came to Lost Vegas to turn a paycheck into a fortune and wound up penniless on the streets, nursing a bottle of poison stuffed into a brown paper bag.

This is a place of losers and winners, of all-in bets and folded hands. It's the Mob and the Mormons and Paris and New York. It's locals and tourists and bright lights and dark streets. It's an oasis in the middle of a hungry desert that swallows travelers and spits out monsters.

So why are we here? Because we know life's a gamble. At any minute the Gentry could burst forth, smart from some Loyalist tip or following the beacon of inappropriate magic, and all we know could end. But we're all, every one of us, survivors. We're walking free because we weren't afraid, because we were strong and willful enough to spit in the face of gods and walk out of that desert with our faces intact. We're here because we know others like us will come, wandering out of the desert like we did, needing guidance and aid to get through those first few delirious days. And we're here because a lot of us have nowhere else to go.

Whatever your reason for being here, enjoy it. Lost Vegas is a hell of a town.
